Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Debbie's father recognized her musical inclination, and began teaching her music theory from age five. At Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas, she was a member of the Delta Kappa Pi Honor Society, and received a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts in 2003, focusing on history and music. Being able to offer students assistance in learning the technical aspect while also helping them to understand when and where the music originated gives a unique perspective in which the student is able to establish a thorough and more personal connection with each piece. Her love for music as well as the ability to work with different ages, cultures, skill levels, and personality types creates a fun, educational atmosphere unique for each student, nurturing proficiency, individuality, and growth. Debbie has taught with the Hays Independent School District, Lone Star School of Music, Northwest School of Music, and through independent private instruction. Now with over 20 years of formal musicianship, Debbie is honored to share not only music theory and classical technique with her students, but also insight into the music industry as an independent songwriter herself. She has toured with various musicians and groups throughout the United States and Mexico as well as performing locally with her own bands.
